Wild West Compressed
animated mini series, 2019, 2:39 min
 It’s the Wild West: cowboys ride across endless plains, their eyes tinged with melancholy. On the big screen, we witness epic duels between bounty hunters and outlaws, and taste the boundless freedom of the frontier.

But even the Western has to keep up with the times. In the age of the smartphone, the new Mobilescope asks its cowboys to deliver the same effortless cool as the classics. The question is: can they still pull it off?




About:
I directed “Wild West Compressed” during my studies at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, producing the miniseries with a team of ten. The project placed a strong focus on world-building, drawing its humor and ideas from a single bold premise: what if a Western were shot in vertical format? From this concept, we created a series of slapstick clips that still preserved the charm of the characters. Overall, the project was a fantastic experiment in exploring the comedic potential of animation and discovering how to tell lighthearted comedy in such a complex medium.
